Preparation Of Material For Brick Manufacturing

Unsoiling Of Clay – For the creation of bricks, pure clay is required. The clay in the top 200 mm of soil is removed because the top layer of soil may contain contaminants.

Digging – The clay is extracted from the ground and placed on the bare ground once the top layer has been removed.

Cleaning – In this stage, Stones, plants, and other wastes are removed from the clay. The clay is cleaned and screened if there is a lot of particle matter remaining.

Blending – In this stage, the clay must be made loose and the substance spread over it if we want to add any ingredient to it.

Tempering – In this stage, clay is combined or crushed with water. For small-scale projects, the pressing will be carried out by cattle or by human feet; for large-scale projects, a pug mill is used as a grinder.

Clay that has been prepared and shaped into the shape of a brick (generally rectangular). That depends on the size of the project, there are two methods to complete this procedure.

Drying of raw bricks – The bricks still contain some moisture after the manufacturing process. Therefore, drying is required; otherwise, the risk of cracking bricks increases while burning. The drying process might take three to ten days. In order to avoid bricks from being damaged by moisture, drying yards are also set up at high altitudes than the surrounding land.

Burning of bricks – The dry bricks are burnt either in clamps (small scale) or kilns (large scale) until a specific temperature is reached. This stage of brick production is important because the bricks will get stronger and harder throughout the process of burning
